DRIVERS are being warned to take extra care on the roads following reports of black ice.
The temperature plummeted to below zero overnight and by 9am today was still less than 1°C.
Beaumont Hill is one of the worst affected roads, with police officers being sent out to manage traffic in the area.
Infrastructure Department staff have also been notified.
The States police said: “Please be careful when driving this morning – we have had reports of black ice on Beaumont Hill. Other areas may have also been affected by the cold weather.”
The cold conditions are set to last throughout today and tomorrow, before milder weather pushes in on Sunday, when temperatures will rise to about 12°C.
