Albert Bartlett in discussions over purchase of the Jersey Royal Company

POTATO suppliers Albert Bartlett have confirmed they are in discussions over the purchase of the Jersey Royal Company.

A statement released by Tim Ward, Jersey operations director of Albert Bartlett, said: “Consolidation of the Island’s leading producers is seen by both businesses as key to delivering a sustainable future for the famous Jersey Royal product and continuing to deliver great product for consumers.”

It acknowledged that the acquisition of the Jersey Royal Company by Albert Bartlett, whose head office is in the Scottish town of Airdrie, would be subject to regulatory approval.

Albert Bartlett have packed and marketed Jersey potatoes for several generations and have had their own packing and growing infrastructure on the Island since 2008.

The Jersey Royal Company, which was consolidated into is current model as grower and packer of potatoes more than 20 years ago, was purchased by Produce Investments in 2014.
