CHIEF Minister Kristina Moore has been ousted after a successful vote of no confidence lodged by former Infrastructure Minister Tom Binet.
Following a debate in the Assembly lasting almost seven hours, 27 States Members ultimately voted for Deputy Binet’s motion, with 22 voting against.
Ministers rallied around their Chief Minister in the days running up to the vote, but Reform Jersey announced on Monday that they would not be backing Deputy Moore following unsuccessful talks.
Others voting against Deputy Moore included former Assistant Chief Minister Andy Jehan, who resigned in November, while Constable Richard Vibert announced during the debate that he was stepping down as Assistant Children’s and Education Minister and Assistant Treasury Minister to support the motion.
States politicians now have seven working days to select a new Chief Minister, with Deputy Moore remaining in post until a new candidate is chosen and the appointments for a new Council of Ministers have been finalised.
