A 49-YEAR-OLD man who made threats and shouted racial abuse has been jailed for a month – because he has no money to pay a fine.
The Magistrate’s Court heard that Christopher Henry Hall made threats towards a group of Asian people an shouted racial abuse on the afternoon of Sunday 7 January.
On 5 December, he also stole a £20 food voucher from someone who had invited him into their home.
Hall admitted two charges of theft and using threatening or abusive words. But the court heard that he had no funds to pay a fine, so Assistant Magistrate Adam Clarke imposed the jail sentence.
