A POLICE investigation is under way after a man was assaulted and robbed in St Helier.

The attacker followed the victim before assaulting him close to the Millennium Town Park – stealing his gold chain, a black Timex watch, a blue iPhone 13 Max Pro and even his trainers.

The shoes were later found in the park.

The suspect, who was on a bicycle, left the area as the victim walked off along Common Lane and later received hospital treatment for facial injuries.

The suspect is described as an Asian man of stocky build with a shaved head around the back and sides.

He was wearing a dark top – possibly a Tommy Hilfiger or Ralph Lauren – with a wide white horizontal stripe across it. His mountain bike had rim stickers, front suspension and disc brakes.

Anyone with information about the incident, which happened between 6am and 6.15am on New Year’s Day on the corner of Gas Place, opposite Gas Place Café, is being asked to phone the States on 612612 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their anonymous online form at Crimestoppers-uk.org.
