JERSEY Met has issued warnings for gale-force winds and the risk of coastal flooding.

A deep area of low pressure is expected to move across the British Isles on Saturday night and Sunday, battering the Island with gusts of up to 60mph.

An orange wind warning – the second-highest level of alert – has been issued for Jersey.

A warning has also been issued for the high tide at 8.46am on Sunday, with the risk of flooding along south-coast roads.

The severe weather has led to the cancellation of several ferry crossings between Jersey, the UK and France.
