JERSEY’S ice-skating rink has closed following forecasts of gale-force winds.
The Jersey Development Company said the rink, at the Weighbridge, was closing for safety reasons until the winds drop.
In a statement, the JDC said: “The ice-skating rink sited at the Weighbridge has been forced to close due to gale-force winds forecast, including gusts up to 60mph.
“The ice rink is housed in a heavy duty, steel framed marquee designed to cope with high winds, however Jersey Development Company, the organisation responsible for the rink, has said that the safety of users is paramount and as a precaution, the ice rink will be closed until wind speeds reduce.
“Jersey Development Company apologises for any inconvenience caused by the closure and says it will use its social-media feeds and local media to update Islanders when it is safe to reopen the ice rink.”
