CONDOR Ferries says it is working with stakeholders to overcome a “challenging time” but is confident it will be able to maintain services.

The firm recently shocked Channel Islands businesses when it proposed an 18.76% hike in freight costs next year.

At the time, Condor’s chief executive, John Napton, said the business had “no choice” but to pass on rising costs, adding that it had absorbed price increases from suppliers during the last three years.

There has since been speculation about the future of the firm.

In a short statement released on Friday afternoon, John Napton, Condor Ferries’ chief executive, said: ” Condor has been working with its stakeholders to overcome a temporary but challenging time.

“We are confident that this is very near to being resolved and will have no impact on our services now or in the long term.”
