A MAN who was caught at the Airport trying to smuggle £290,000 of heroin into the Island has been sentenced to seven years in prison.
Sean Aboh (24), from London, was stopped after getting off a flight from Gatwick in July, and after giving vague responses to questions, Customs officers searched him and found 205g of heroin and 2g of cocaine.
The cocaine, which he said was for personal use, had an estimated value of between £350 and £600.
The heroin had a street value of £290,000, according to Customs officers.
Advocate Sarah Dale, defending, said Aboh had a difficult upbringing, moving between Nigeria and London, and that he hoped to work with young people.
She added that in the time since his arrest, Aboh had met people who had been impacted by heroin addiction and realised the severity of his crimes.
Deputy Bailiff Robert MacRae, delivering the sentence, said: “Heroin is an extremely dangerous drug which kills, and the value of the quantity you imported was substantial.”
