APPLICATIONS have opened for the Bailiff’s Fund set up to support Islanders affected by Storm Ciarán.
The fund is to support individuals and families who have been displaced or suffered severe hardship as a result of the storm and need short-term aid.
The closing date for applications is Wednesday 7 December.
A panel comprising the Bailiff, Sir Timothy Le Cocq, Home Affairs Minister Helen Miles and St Clement Constable Marcus Troy will decide which applications to support by Tuesday 13 December.
The fund will not support items covered by insurance, but could help pay for essential items such as clothes, furniture and white goods. It could also cover moving expenses.
It will not cover the replacement of fences or sheds and outdoor furniture, and would only pay for the felling of trees if they present an imminent danger.

Sir Timothy said: “Storm Ciarán was even more harmful in its impact on our community than predicted.
“In its wake, it became quickly apparent that that a number of Islanders, including families, had suffered very significant loss with damaged homes and loss of personal possessions.
“The Bailiff’s Appeal was established to help those affected have access to prompt financial aid to help them stabilise and recover quickly.”
The fund is being administered by the Jersey Community Foundation, whose chief executive Anna Terry said: “Our existing infrastructure and experience managing community fundraising initiatives allows us to move quickly to collect and administer financial aid.
“We hope that these funds will offer some support to those most affected by the storm.”

They can also make a bank transfer to the Jersey Community Foundation account.
