A FUNDRAISER set up to support a family after the death of their two-year-old daughter while on holiday in Turkey has smashed its £25,000 target.

The money will be used to “support Laura Carolan, Ryan Sutcliffe, Karis and their family as they navigate the devastating loss of their beloved two-year-old child, Isla, whilst on a family holiday in Turkey”, according to the fundraising page.

Set up by Taylor Kearns – a friend of the family – the GoFundMe page has been supported by nearly 1,500 people since its launch at the end of last week, and yesterday it totalled more than £36,000.

“Isla brought so much joy and laughter into the lives of those who knew her,” wrote Ms Kearns, adding that the “last thing we want is for them to worry about financial matters while grieving”.

What was initially diagnosed as tonsillitis turned out to be appendicitis and sepsis, and the two-year-old died after her appendix ruptured.

Her family are due to return to the Island in the next week.

Ms Kearns said: “Her radiant smile and infectious spirit will forever be etched in our hearts. “While we cannot ease the emotional burden, we can help alleviate some of the financial stress that comes with such an unexpected loss. “Every donation, no matter the size, will go a long way in helping them honour Isla’s memory and give her a dignified farewell.”
