FUEL supplier ATF will take over the forecourt at Motor Mall, if a planning application is approved.
The company, which already supplies fuel from garages in Maufant and at Augrés in Trinity, has applied to reconfigure the existing forecourt at the site, as well as replace the existing canopy and update signs.
It proposes removing the eastern row of pumps and covering the western ones with a smaller canopy. The retained western pumps would become fully self-service and available 24 hours a day.
ATF managing director Jon Best said: “We are particularly excited about the opportunity to operate from the Motor Mall site, subject to the planning application being successful.
“This will allow us to increase our overall footprint, enabling us to reach more customers, not only with our competitively priced fuel, but at the same time providing greener fuel alternatives.
“The Motor Mall site has always been synonymous with providing good value and we believe the ATF brand complements this perfectly.”
He added: “The fuels ATF supply are the most modern biofuels used in the UK, aimed at tackling climate change. We believe that if all fuels used in Jersey were these types of fuel, the reduction in carbon emissions would equate to approximately 7,000 cars being removed from the Island’s roads.
“With investment being made in the latest payment technology, this site will be open 24/7 just like our other sites.”
The proposal for the site is the first since a failed application from homeware store The Range to convert the car showroom and forecourt into a shop.
Plans to change the site have been prompted by a desire by Jacksons Group, which owns Motor Mall, to move all of its cars out in order to consolidate its marques at its site on the Airport Road. The forecourt would have also closed had that move been made.
Those plans to move to St Peter have now been abandoned and ATF operating the forecourt will have no impact on the Motor Mall.
After the failure of its planning appeal last September, The Range, which was founded by Jersey resident Chris Dawson, said it would concentrate its efforts on serving the Island via the internet.
