EMERGENCY services attended a fire at a St Brelade property during the evening of Friday 20 October.

The States police said at 8pm that they were assisting the Fire Service with a fire on Mont Les Vaux in St Aubin.

Jersey Fire and Rescue said they had received “multiple calls” about the fire and had sent three fire engines and the duty manager.

They said: “On arrival two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus were committed to the flat on the first floor. A small fire was located and extinguished.

“The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.”

States police confirmed that the fire was inside a property and had been extinguished. One female was taken to hospital to be seen for smoke inhalation.

Mont Les Vaux, which leads out of St Aubin towards the west, was reopened around 8.20pm.

Jersey Fire and Rescue added: “The Fire Service would like to praise the public for their quick actions in notifying our combined control centre of the situation.

“For a second evening in a row, a working smoke alarm undoubtedly aided in the evacuation of residents.”
