UPDATE: Pedestrian flown to Southampton after sustaining "serious" injuries in collision with car

A PEDESTRIAN who sustained “serious” head injuries in a collision with a car at the weekend has been flown to Southampton hospital.

The States police and Jersey Ambulance Service attended the incident – on La Route Du Fort near the junction with Beach Road in St Saviour – in the early hours of Sunday morning, following reports that a car had collided with a pedestrian at around 2.15am.

In an appeal for information, the force said a 26-year-old man sustained “serious” head injuries and was treated at the scene by paramedics before being transported to hospital.

He was flown to Southampton yesterday afternoon and a police spokesperson said this morning that the man’s condition “remains stable”.

A 58-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury through careless driving.

The police spokesperson said that the individual had been released on bail but not yet charged.

The road was closed for four hours on Sunday to allow collision investigators to record the scene and was reopened at around 6.15am.
