Pedestrian taken to hospital with 'serious' injuries following collision with car

A 26-YEAR-OLD man has been taken to hospital with “serious” head injuries following a road traffic collision in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The States police and Jersey Ambulance Service attended the incident – on La Route Du Fort near the junction with Beach Road in St Saviour – following reports that a car had collided with a pedestrian at around 2.15am.

In an appeal for information, the force said the pedestrian sustained “serious” head injuries and was treated at the scene by paramedics before being transported to hospital.

A 58-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury through careless driving and is currently in police custody.

The road was closed for four hours to allow collision investigators to record the scene and was reopened this morning at around 6.15am.
