A 56-YEAR-OLD man who attacked a hotel worker he believed had reported him for using drugs has been jailed for 15 weeks for assault and disorderly behaviour.
The Magistrate’s Court was shown CCTV footage of Antonio Romano Capuano kicking the staff member and then grabbing his arm aggressively in the bar area of the Radisson Blu Hotel.
The court heard that Capuano had numerous previous convictions for threatening and abusive behaviour.
Advocate Allana Binnie, defending, pointed out that the kicking had not caused serious injury and said: “There was no intention to physically harm him.”
However, Relief Magistrate Peter Harris told Capuano: “Your record speaks for itself. A custodial sentence is the only option open to me.”
He jailed him for 12 weeks for the assault and a consecutive three weeks for the disorderly conduct.
