PLANS to convert a hotel into 16 self-catering cottages with parking, a restaurant and outdoor facilities have been approved.

Under the development, the existing kitchen extension of the Hotel La Place, on Route du Coin in St Brelade, will be demolished to make way for the new units.

The northern block of the hotel received permission to be converted into self-catering cottages in 2021, and the latest application will convert the remaining areas into self-catering units.

The application, submitted by MyIncroft Holdings, stated that the ‘units will be served with a reception and have a communal pool, similar to that currently provided by the hotel, and all units will have private access and amenity spaces along with one parking space each’.

A condition of the approval is that no part of the development can be occupied until the electric-car charging facilities, as per the approved plans, have been fully installed.

Recommending the plans for approval, the planning officer’s report said: ‘The proposal would largely retain the existing volume of the main building, demolish the existing single-story extensions, and the extensive alterations will be limited to the internal accommodation.’
