PACKETS of chocolates laced with class A drugs have been seized by Customs.

The Magic Dinosaurs chocolates – advertised as ‘100% roar cocoa chocolate’ and labelled ‘organic, vegan, and gluten-free’ contained the hallucinogenic drugs psilocin and psilocybin.

Jersey Customs and Immigration Service said the chocolates were contained in what appeared to be ‘off the shelf’ brightly coloured commercial packaging.

They added that the ‘packaging makes no reference to a dangerous controlled drug and could have been mistaken for genuine sweets or chocolates’.

Customs Senior Manager Luke Goddard said: ‘This is the first seizure of this type we have made. It raises real concerns that they could be consumed by someone believing them to be normal sweets, unaware they contain a dangerous hallucinogenic.

‘More concerning is that the brightly coloured packaging and the chocolates themselves being in the shape of dinosaurs will be particularly attractive to children.’
