CHILDREN and young people, as well as their families and others who care for them, are being asked to complete a survey on social care in Jersey.

Launched last month and closing on Friday , the survey’s aim is to assess the quality of care in the Island so that it can be improved.

The survey is aimed at all staff working within the services and the children who are currently using fostering, adoption, social work and independent reviewing, as well as child and family services.

Three organisations are promoting the survey in conjunction with the UK-based Picker Institute: the Jersey Care Commission, the Children, Young People, Education and Skills Department and Family Nursing and Homecare.

Becky Sherrington, chief inspector for the commission, said: ‘We would encourage anyone who is yet to complete the survey to please share their feedback to help support and continuously improve the inspection process.

‘In particular, if you know any children or young people who are currently using these services, please encourage them to complete the survey.’

The survey was created after a decision by the States Assembly to expand the commission’s remit in order to provide regulation for health and social care for young Islanders.
