THE life president of St Peter’s Football Club and former Constable of the parish has said a ‘very big thank-you to everyone’ who helped him raise £8,000 for Jersey Hospice Care this summer.

Tom du Feu walked 80 laps of St Peter’s Football Field in the ten days leading up to his 80th birthday, completing eight every day.

He said: ‘I had tremendous support from the public, who were most generous in the contributions. I am most thankful for the money raised for the Hospice.’

Among those he thanked were Matthew and Carli Price, who supported the administrative side of the challenge, and his wife, Janice, who ‘was a great support all the way through’.

He was also grateful to St Peter’s Football Club and its president, Peter Fleury.

Mr du Feu is also a former Deputy of St Peter.

He was president of the football club for 34 years and was later made life president, as an ‘acknowledgement of outstanding service to the club over many years’.

Mr du Feu also played for the club, representing it since childhood, including playing in the 1955 inter-vingtaine competition.

He is now already thinking of his next challenge, though he said he had not decided on what exactly it will entail yet.
