TWO tiny hedgehogs, one of which was rescued in a saucepan, have been handed over to a charity after being found separately by cyclists in St Ouen.

The pair were handed over to the Jersey Hedgehog Preservation Group, who have ensured the hoglets are safe and have been fed.

Writing on Facebook, JHPG said: ‘Amazing rescue today, many thanks to Kim, who was on her bike when she saw this little one in the middle of the road. She thought she was dead, she stopped a car and asked if they had a box, they had a saucepan which was going to the dump and gave it to her.

‘That’s a first!’

The little hedgehog weighed only 66g but has a full set of teeth, suggesting she is around eight weeks old.
