TWO women who together cheated an elderly man out of more than £17,000 in a ‘wicked fraud’ have been paying him back at the agreed rate, a review at the Royal Court has heard.

Amanda Joan Louis (52) and her daughter, Shannon Stephanie Bellas (27), befriended the 83-year-old man and bombarded him with messages asking to borrow cash – promising to pay him back, but never intending to.

Bellas had received £11,317 from the man and Louis received a total of £6,127.

They were sentenced to 240 hours of community service each, but were spared prison so that they could work and earn the money to pay him back.

The court heard that Bellas was paying back £250 per month and Louis was paying £200.

It was told that, at the current rates, Bellas would have paid her debt in around three years and Louis in around two years.

Deputy Bailiff Robert MacRae said another review should be conducted on 5 July next year.
