LES Amis have welcomed ten new health care workers who have been recruited from a number of African countries.

Along with other organisations working in the care sector, Les Amis has struggled to recruit people and is delighted that experienced health care professionals have joined the team, with the help of recruitment company GR8.

The charity’s managing director, Shaun Findlay, said: ‘Les Amis has been supporting and empowering Islanders with learning disabilities since 1975.

‘Demand for our services is growing, so we need to look beyond our Island to find the right people to bolster our team. Fortunately, with partners such as GR8, we can recruit skilled and dedicated people to become valued members of our team.’

Lee Madden, GR8’s managing director, added: ‘We have built up good relationship with organisations in Africa and we are signing an agreement with the Kenyan Government to recruit skilled employees to work in the Channel Islands, Isle of Man and the UK.

‘Les Amis came to us with a specific set of needs, and we were happy to work with them to find the right people to fill those roles.

‘All the people we work with are dedicated and skilled professionals who want to work hard and give something back to the community they are now a part of.’
