Police appeal after man 'knocked to the floor' in alleged late-night assault in St Helier

THE States police are appealing for witnesses to two alleged assaults that took place in St Helier town centre on Thursday night.

The assaults happened in Mulcaster Street just before 11.50pm. A man was seen knocking another man to the ground at the junction with Pier Road, and then punching and kicking another man several times further down the road, outside the entrance to The Drift bar.

The victims’ injuries are unknown but are not believed to be serious, according to police.

The suspect is described as white, five feet nine inches tall and of stocky build. He was wearing dark trousers, a white T-shirt and a dark jacket, which he removed after the assaults.
