A HUGE ship carrying turbine jackets for the wind farm being built off the north Brittany coast arrived in Jersey waters on Friday morning.

The vessel is 173 metres long and 42 metres wide, and is owned by BigLift Shipping, a member of the Spliethoff Group, one of the world’s leading heavy lift shipping companies.

It arrived from Fene, on the north-west coast of Spain, and anchored about six miles south of St Helier.

The wind farm is being built about 23 miles south-west of Corbière.

When completed, it will provide power to more than 800,000 homes.
