TWO people have been taken to hospital after suffering burns while tackling a fire in their home believed to have been caused by a pet turning on the hob.
The emergency services were called out just after 6am on Sunday following multiple calls about a blaze in a block of flats in St Helier.
Up to 20 residents evacuated the building and were waiting outside when the crews arrived.

Two occupants of the flat suffered burns and smoke inhalation and were treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to hospital.
In a statement, the Jersey Fire and Rescue Service said the ‘most likely cause is that a pet had inadvertently turned a hob on, setting fire to items on top’.
Firefighters praised the residents for quickly leaving the building.
