A 19-YEAR-OLD woman who attacked a ‘Good Samaritan’ in the street has been fined £500 and ordered to pay £500 in compensation.

Appearing in the Magistrate’s Court this week, Ezaura Mariana Luis admitted assaulting the man in the town centre at 2.25am on 18 September.

St Helier Centenier Danny Scaife said a friend of the defendant had been lying drunk on the ground and the victim had gone to her aid.

He said: ‘Luis believed he was causing problems for her friend. He was actually acting as a Good Samaritan. He went to see that she was okay.’

Luis and another unidentified male both hit the victim in the face.

Advocate Nicholas Mière, defending, pointed out that Luis had been 18 at the time of the attack.

He added: ‘She has steered clear of the group of friends she was associating with at the time.’

Magistrate Bridget Shaw said she was taking Luis’s age into account in imposing a fine.
