PARTS of the long-stay car park at the Airport will be cordoned off from next week when work starts to create a new payment system and 120 extra spaces.
Hire cars have been moved to a new area in the staff car park, where there will also be overflow spaces for passengers.
Extra exit points are being installed in both the Arrivals and long-stay car parks, which will allow motorists a faster departure during busy periods. The work is expected to take two to three weeks
Later in the year a new online system will be introduced, which will allow pre-booking and payment.
This will also enable Ports of Jersey to discount parking for people who book in advance, and will guarantee a space for those who pre-book. Marc Clayson, innovation manager at Ports of Jersey, said: ‘Since introducing our parking promotions we have noticed that there are sometimes not enough spaces to satisfy demand, so we have been making changes to provide more spaces for passengers who want to park at the Airport while they travel.
‘Next week we will be cordoning off some areas of the long-stay car park to allow us to move from the existing payment system to a new one.
‘Motorists will need to follow the routes highlighted by temporary signage.
‘We apologise for the disruption while we transition to the new system and increase the number of spaces available.’
