ISLANDERS walking along the beach at Grouville have been greeted by the sight of hundreds of mysterious green blobs among the sand.

Several people have taken to social media to ask about the ‘weird alien sacs’.

One Islander wrote: ‘Does anyone know what these are? They could be eggs, and are anchored in the sand. Hundreds on Grouville beach.’

Another wrote: ‘Was walking on low tide in Grouville bay and there are these little green “alien” sacks everywhere, anyone know what they are??’

Environmentalist and JEP nature correspondent Bob Tompkins said the blobs were the product of spotted paddle worms.

‘They look a bit alien but they are egg sacks from a type of sand worm. You do see them on beaches at this time of year.’
