A FORMER marketing director who worked to increase visitor numbers to the UK from Asia and the Middle East is to turn her attention to promoting Jersey as a destination.

Tricia Warwick has been appointed as the new chief executive of Visit Jersey and will take up the role on 24 April.

Ms Warwick has worked as a director at Visit Britain for the past five years, with responsibility for strategy and marketing plans for visitors from India, Australia, China, Japan, South Korea, Saudi Arabia and

the United Arab Emirates.

As a member of the senior leadership team, Ms Warwick worked with industry stakeholders to promote Britain and increase tourist numbers and value to the UK.

Visit Jersey chair Lisa Springate said: ‘Tricia’s extensive travel knowledge, strategic mindset and leadership experience will be invaluable in leading the Visit Jersey team and working with stakeholders to deliver a vibrant, sustainable tourism industry.’

Economic Development Minister Kirsten Morel referred to a ‘crucial time’ for the Island’s tourist industry.

‘I know that Tricia’s extensive experience in the industry will help us identify the opportunities and challenges in an increasingly competitive market,’ he said.

Ms Warwick said Jersey was ‘a stunningly beautiful destination with a unique character and so much to offer visitors from its people and culture, history and heritage, local produce and the great outdoors’.

Visit Jersey is an arms-length organisation funded by the government. Former chief executive Amanda Burns announced last August that she would be leaving the role in December after just over two years in order to pursue a new opportunity.
