ISLANDERS driving through La Route de Veulle at La Collette are being advised to allow extra time for delays caused by resurfacing work.

The work is taking place between 7.30am and 6pm as part of ongoing highway maintenance by the Infrastructure, Housing and Environment department less than a hundred metres from the junction at Mount Bingham – and is expected to conclude at the start of next week.

Islanders are still able to drive through La Route de Veulle, but the government has said they should allow extra journey time in case of delays.

It was originally intended that the work would be carried out overnight, but due to issues with the temperature and construction materials it is now taking place during the day.

On Sunday, the road will be completely closed overnight from 7pm to 5am the following morning.

In the event of poor weather, the road closure will be postponed and resurfacing will be carried out a different night.

Businesses in the area are able to park outside the Fresh Fish Company during the affected hours, while alternative parking has also been arranged for buses.
