ISLANDERS are being asked to share their views on health and social care by taking part in a roadshow which will see the Health Minister visit all 12 parishes over the next five months.

Deputy Karen Wilson and her assistant ministers will start the roadshow in St Mary next week, with the politician stressing the importance of direct engagement with the public following the publication of two critical reports on her department in recent months.

Earlier this week the Comptroller and Auditor General issued a report describing poor relations between clinicians and senior management, sparking a pledge from the Health Minister to bring in a turnaround team to tackle the situation. This followed a 2022 report by Professor Hugo Mascie-Taylor which found serious issues with governance at the General Hospital.

Deputy Wilson said: ‘Following the Mascie-Taylor and CAG reports, it is crucial that Islanders’ voices are heard and that is why I, along with my assistant ministers, want to engage with them directly by going to each parish.’

The roadshows are intended solely for residents of the parish in question. The event at St Mary’s Parish Hall will run from 6.30pm to 8pm on Monday, with the second event scheduled to take place in St Brelade at the same time on Thursday 23 February.

Details of 11 other events, including two in St Helier, are available at gov.je/news/2023.
