AN inquest has opened into the death of a 47-year-old man whose body was found on the beach at La Mare slipway at Grève d’Azette last month.
Daniel Gordon Batho’s body was found on 30 December at 9.48am, according to Deputy Viscount Advocate Mark Harris, presiding.
The death of Mr Batho, who was born in Guernsey, is not being treated as suspicious by the police and his body was released to allow funeral arrangements to take place.
The preliminary cause of death was given as drowning in a report by forensic pathologist Dr Amanda Jeffrey.
Proceedings were adjourned, awaiting toxicology and histology results. Police coroner’s officer Andy Bisson was present at the inquest.
