A ST Helier takeaway based in the south of town is hoping to expand its operation by creating a bar and seating area in the vacant unit next door.

Arepera La Tricolor, which offers Venezuelan street food and currently operates from 6a La Motte Street, is hoping to take over the neighbouring No 6.

The unit is currently empty and was previously occupied by Topline Jewellers.

In a submission on the government’s Planning website, applicant Victor Nobrega says he wants to convert the shop at No 6 into a seating space and a small bar to support the takeaway premises he is currently renting.

He says there would be no structural changes to the building, as ‘all the work carried out will only be superficial in order to create seating areas, a counter at the back of the room which will serve as the bar counter, fridges and shelves for storage’.

He adds that there would be more seating areas on the upper level and improvements to the toilet facilities.
