HUNDREDS of Islanders had a bracing start to the festivities when they took part in one of the several organised Christmas Day swims.
Pictured are some of those who took to the water in St Ouen’s Bay for the Jersey Surfboard Club’s swim at the Watersplash and Healing Waves’ swim at Le Braye, which raised money for Jersey Hospice and the MND Jersey branch.
The sea temperature this year has been consistently above-average, and is currently at about 10°C.
Christmas Day swims were also held at Grève de Lecq, Havre des Pas, the Watersplash and Le Braye.
Several New Year’s Day swims are also set to take place.
According to Jersey Met, Sunday is expected to be sunny with the chance of a shower.
Temperatures are expected to peak at about 12°C and although the winds will be up to strong force-six and from the south-west during the morning, they will veer westerly and decrease throughout the day.
High tide (28ft) will be at 1.51pm.
