JERSEY Met has issued wind and thunderstorm warnings for the Island.

Gusts of up to 60mph are expected this morning before the winds decrease slightly this afternoon and pick up again this evening.

Several trees are believed to have come down overnight.

Ferry crossings have also been disrupted.

In a statement issued early on Tuesday, the States police said: ‘We are currently experiencing adverse weather across the Island, as a result, we would recommend motorists take care whilst travelling on the roads over the next couple of hours.

‘If you find a tree or debris blocking a road, please contact IHE on 725351 option 1 who will arrange for clearance of the debris.’

A yellow thunderstorm warning – the lowest level of alert – has also been issued for Jersey. It states there will be isolated thunderstorms on Tuesday morning.
