SEVERAL roads were left impassible this morning after torrential rain caused flash flooding.

The States police said they received numerous 999 calls about flooding across the Island.

In a statement, the force said: ‘The best advice we can give is to take care on the roads, reduce your speed, give yourself extra time getting to your destination and leave ample space between you and the vehicle in front of you.’

Meanwhile, Jersey Met has issued a thunderstorm warning and orange-level wind warning.

The warnings were issued as a band of heavy rain swept across the Island.

The wet start to November followed the joint-warmest October on record in Jersey. The month was also drier and sunnier than average.
