A RED wind warning has been issued by Jersey Met as a fierce storm system is set to sweep across the Channel.
The warning – the highest level of alert – states that severe-gale-force nine winds will hit the Channel Islands area on Monday.
The storm has been named Storm Claudio by Meteo France. A modelling sequence by the UK Met Office predicts that Jersey will be hit by the storm’s strongest winds.
In a statement, Jersey’s government said: ‘The strongest winds in Jersey are expected between 10pm and 4am with… gusts up to 60mph anticipated.

This week is also expected to see a gradual decrease in temperatures following a spell of exceptionally mild weather.
The mercury is set to peak at about 15°C or 16°C by the end of the week – about 4°C or 5°C lower than in recent days.
