DIRECT flights between Jersey and the Isle of Man could be introduced, according to Blue Islands.

The airline is consulting business communities in the two Crown Dependencies to assess whether it could add a new route to its existing services – if there is sufficient demand.

Anyone currently making the journey has to connect at a UK airport, meaning the ‘door-to-door’ journey can take up a large part of a working day.

Businesses are being asked how often they make trips to the Isle of Man, how many people travel by air to Jersey, the average cost and time involved, and whether they would consider purchasing a block of flights at a fixed price if the new route was to be introduced.

The survey also includes questions for leisure travellers who may wish to use the service.

Tom Barrasin, chief commercial officer of Blue Islands, said: ‘There are many businesses that operate across Jersey and the Isle of Man. The survey is designed primarily to better understand the corporate travel requirements by gathering data regarding current behaviours and propensity to travel, to determine if a viable, sustainable route could be re-established.

‘Blue Islands continually evaluates opportunities for new route development to better connect the Channel Islands, such as our direct services to Rennes, Dublin and Norwich established this year. Engagement with our corporate and business travellers is a vital component of our meeting the Island’s connectivity requirements.’

The survey is available via blueislands.com/iom and will run until 18 November.
