THE inshore rescue boat had to be launched on Friday night to save a person stranded on the rocks at Havre des Pas.

Concerned members of the public had raised the alarm after hearing shouts for help from the sea.

The Fire and Rescue Service launched its rescue vessel from Havre des Pas slipway at around 7pm, following a request from Jersey Coastguard.

After quickly retrieving the individual they were returned to the shore safe and well, according to the fire service.

Crew commander Mathew Coote said: ‘Always check the state of tide when venturing out into coastal areas and carry a charged mobile phone. If you see or hear anyone in trouble in the water do not attempt to enter the water but always call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.’
