JERSEY’s largest retailer is expanding into the UK by opening M&S food stores across southwest England.

SandpiperCI, which operates several other brands in the Island – including Morrisons and Iceland – has said the expansion program is underway following an agreement with the Marks and Spencer Group.

SandpiperCI operates a number of brands in the Island, including some of the shops in Liberty Wharf

Property teams are currently identifying retail sites in towns and cities across the southwest of England, with the first M&S food stores expected to be open and trading in spring 2023.

SandpiperCI’s executive chairman, Tony O’Neill, said: ‘We have worked closely with M&S over the last 15 years to build a strong and highly successful M&S franchise business in Jersey. Our M&S store teams consistently deliver service and standards of the highest order, and we are naturally delighted to have the opportunity to widen our partnership with Marks and Spencer Group plc by developing stores in the UK mainland.’
