The Jersey branch of the Guide Dogs for the Blind charity has raised £15,000 with its latest book sale.

Organisers said that Islanders queued to get in on the first morning of the two-day event, which took place at the Albert Bartlett building on Trinity Hill at the weekend.
Ken Syvret, the chairman of the Jersey branch of Guide Dogs for the Blind, said: ‘It went extremely well, there were enormous queues at 9.30am on Saturday. I never counted how many were queuing – at a guess there were 60 to 70 people. The enormous car park was absolutely full by 11am.’
The money raised from the 28th Biggest Book Sale makes up a substantial amount of the £26,000 the charity has made this year from its four book sales.
Mr and Mrs Syvret spent five weeks pricing between 12,000 and 15,000 books in preparation for the weekend’s sale.
Mr Syvret said: ‘I said to my wife before the event, if we reach £15,000 I’ll be delighted.’
Despite the early surge in visitor numbers on Saturday, fewer people attended on Sunday due to the poor weather conditions, said Mr Syvret.
He added: ‘Thank you to Albert Bartlett for the use of the premises – I can’t thank them enough. They were very helpful. A word of thanks must go to all the helpers.’
