Appeal for witnesses after man allegedly spits in woman's face in St Helier

THE States police are appealing for witnesses after a man allegedly spat in the face of a woman in St Helier.

The altercation took place around 9pm on Thursday, according to States police, and involved a man and woman who were known to each other.

It is alleged that the male spat in the woman’s face and subsequently left the area following the intervention of a customer from a nearby pub.

The man was described by police as having dark hair and was wearing a black t-shirt, black jeans and black/grey Nike trainers, and the female as about 5ft 7ins tall with shoulder-length blonde hair, partially tied in a top knot.

The States police stated that a 19-year-old male was later been arrested for domestic-related common assault, and subsequently released on police bail.
