A MAN who punched someone on a night out has been convicted of common assault but found not responsible for the serious head injuries the victim sustained.
Magno Raimundo Gaspar Reis was convicted following a three-day trial in the Royal Court, after he punched the man outside Minden Place car park during the early hours of 27 September last year.
The jury unanimously found Reis guilty of common assault on Wednesday afternoon, but cleared him of causing the injuries sustained by the victim – which included a fractured skull and a bleed on the brain. He was originally charged with one count of grave and criminal assault.
The case has been adjourned for sentencing on 15 December and Reis has been remanded on bail.
