A HOUSE in St Saviour has been left damaged after a fire broke out on Thursday morning.

Two fire engines and 15 firefighters attended the scene after the service received a call at 3.50am.

Crews were greeted with smoke and flames coming out the front and rear first floor windows.

The occupants of the property were alerted to the fire by a smoke alarm fitted on the first floor and escaped without injury.

In a Facebook post, Jersey Fire & Rescue said the incident highlights the importance of having a working smoke alarm.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
