TWO paddleboarders have been rescued by firefighters after getting into difficulty in strong winds off the south coast.

The Fire and Rescue Service launched its inshore rescue boat between the Dicq and La Mare slipways and brought the pair back to shore.

In a Facebook post, they said: ‘The paddle-boarder and passenger were quickly rescued and brought back to shore safely without any injuries.

‘They were both wearing Personal Floatation Devices (PFD’s), however due to the strength and direction of the wind they were struggling to paddle back to shore and eventually would have reached a point of exhaustion.

‘Words of advice were given on scene by the attending duty Coastguard officer.

‘We would also like to highlight that both slipways were clear which allowed us unrestricted access to the beach ensuring a quick launch and recovery.’
