THE Red Arrows and Battle of Britain Memorial Flight are among the headline attractions at next month’s Jersey International Air Display.

A wide range of aircraft will take to the skies above St Aubin’s Bay on the afternoon of Thursday 8 September, and are set to once again prove a highlight of the Island’s summer calendar.

Organiser Mike Higgins confirmed that the Red Arrows would provide the closing act of the display, while earlier in the day an RAF Spitfire, Hurricane and Lancaster bomber – which make up the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight – will be another leading draw.

Other confirmed participants include an Italian-built military aircraft – the Siai Marchetti SF.260 Warrior, the North American Rockwell OV-10 Bronco, and the Chinook helicopter display team.

Mr Higgins said regular attendees would be pleased to see many familiar aircraft returning to the Island’s skies, with others set to be added to the line-up during the coming weeks.

He said: ‘We’re proud to be the biggest free event in the Channel Islands – it doesn’t matter how financially stretched anyone is, they can come out with their picnic and their families and enjoy a really great show.’

Although this year’s air display will not include static displays at Jersey Airport and West Park in St Helier, Mr Higgins said he hoped that this aspect of the event would return in 2023.

The 2020 display was cancelled as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, but the event returned to its traditional place in the summer calendar last year.
