A POPULAR festival is returning after a four-year absence.

The Havre des Pas Seaside Festival, which attracted 14,500 people back in 2018, is due to take place this weekend for the first time since before the pandemic, starting at 12pm on both Saturday and Sunday.

Jason Maindonald, who has been organising the festival since 2015, said: ‘The event is very popular with 20-to-30-year-olds. The DJ set on the beach tends to be hugely popular.

‘There will be bungees for children and we will have plenty of family entertainment.’

On the changes caused by the pandemic, Mr Maindonald said: ‘There have not been a lot of local food vendors about, but we still have a nice dynamic range of food.’

Jersey Water have agreed to provide Islanders attending the event with free drinking water, as Jersey experienced a record temperature of 37.9°C on Monday and it is expected to be hot again this weekend.

Mr Maindonald said: ‘I’m hoping that the good weather continues and I’m also hoping for a nice breeze over the weekend.’

As the event was cancelled last year due to Covid-19, tickets sold then will be honoured this year. Entry to the festival is £7 per person, to be paid on entry by cash or card.
