Burglar 'uses bollard' to smash window of Iceland store

THE police are investigating a burglary at a St Brelade shop in which a bollard was thrown through a store window.

The incident took place at Iceland in Les Quennevais Parade at around 4.30am yesterday.

A window was smashed and cigarettes and alcohol were taken. Police officers were called to the scene when the alarm was heard a few minutes later.

Store manager Levi Reynolds said: ‘We had a break-in around 4am this morning. We had to wait until the forensics had arrived before we could enter the building.’

Commenting on what had happened, she added: ‘A guy managed to dig out one of the bollards from outside and throw it through a window. He was in and out in four seconds and went for cigarettes and rum.

‘We came in and spoke with the police. They were amazing and really friendly and we’re just waiting to hear back from them.’

The police yesterday confirmed that no arrests had been made and that the investigation was ongoing.
