Rock-up Covid vaccination clinics to return

ROCK-up vaccination clinics are to return this month, the government has announced.

Islanders aged five and over who are still due a first vaccine, second dose or booster will be able to be vaccinated at selected parish halls, beginning with St Helier tomorrow.

As well as getting a vaccine, Islanders can ask healthcare staff any questions they may have.

The government said the locations and timings made the clinics more accessible for school-age children, particularly those aged five to 11, who are eligible for their second doses providing 12 weeks have passed since their first. The guidance follows the latest advice from the Joint Committee for Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI).

The government also reminded Islanders travelling abroad this summer that some destinations require proof of Covid status, which can include vaccination records, and said the rock-up clinics were ‘another opportunity’ to avoid any potential problems at borders during travel.

Emma Baker, the head of the Island’s vaccination programme, said: ‘We are pleased that we are able to offer Islanders to rock-up for their vaccine once again. We saw how popular they were initially, and it is encouraging to see Islanders young and old taking the opportunity to protect themselves and others.

‘Keeping up-to-date with your vaccine schedule is important and, in some countries, it is a requirement to travel. I urge those over the age of five who haven’t yet had their first Covid-19 vaccine or are due a second or third dose to take advantage of these rock-up clinics and give yourself the best protection over the summer. Your vaccine is waiting for you.’

The Fort Regent vaccination centre is still available for Islanders to receive a vaccine. Anyone that wants to book their appointment can do so online at gov.je/vaccine or by calling the coronavirus helpline on 0800 735 5566.
